Tattoo Care Instructions

Procedure
• Protective film: Leave the film on your skin for about 2–3 days.
 • You may shower, but please avoid taking baths.
 • If the film starts to peel off before then and no longer completely covers the tattoo, remove it entirely.
 • Small loose corners are not a problem. As soon as water could get under the film—or has already gotten under it—remove it completely.
 • If redness appears along the edge of the film, please remove it carefully.
• Removing the film: After 2–3 days, it’s best to loosen the film at one corner while in the shower and slowly peel it off in the direction of hair growth.
 • Adhesive residue may remain but will disappear on its own—please do not rub it off.
• Cleaning: Immediately after removing the film, rinse the tattoo with lukewarm water using gentle circular motions.
 • Do not use soap, shampoo, or shower gel.
• Drying (throughout the entire healing phase): After each cleaning, gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean, lint-free towel or paper towel—from day 1 until it is fully healed (approx. 4–5 weeks).
• Never rub or scrub!
• Start aftercare: Leave the tattoo alone for a short while, then begin applying cream.
 • Apply a very thin layer of cream 3–5 times a day for the first few days; starting in the second week, gradually reduce the frequency.
 • Suitable products include Bepanthen Wound and Healing Ointment or Pegasus Tattoo Cream, available at pharmacies.
• Healing process:
 • Slight scabs or crusts are normal and will fall off on their own over time—please never scratch them.
 • Your tattoo will be fully healed after about 4–5 weeks. Please send me a photo via email so I can check whether a touch-up is necessary.
 • A one-time touch-up is free of charge within the first 3 months.
General Advice & Tips
• Your skin is mostly made up of water. Drink enough fluids to support the healing process.
• Avoid alcohol during the healing phase—it dries out your skin and puts additional strain on your body.
• Wear loose-fitting clothing over the next few weeks to prevent friction (pay attention to the waistbands of socks, pants, and bras, for example).
• If the tattoo sticks to your clothing, loosen it with lukewarm water (in the shower or sink). Please never rip it off.
• Keep your tattoo clean: Don’t let others touch it, and be careful around work or pets.
• Avoid bathing, saunas, and swimming pools for at least 4 weeks.
• Avoid exercise and heavy sweating for about 2 weeks.
• Avoid intense sun exposure and tanning beds for 4 weeks. After that, always protect your skin well with sunscreen.
• Even after it has healed, your tattoo will appreciate some care: body lotion, aloe vera, coconut oil, or special tattoo cream.
• Be sure to avoid sunburn (after complete healing, use high-SPF sunscreen or appropriate clothing) so that your tattoo stays vibrant for years to come.
